Job Overview

We are seeking an analytically minded and compliance-driven Senior Sales & Use Tax Accountant with 4+ years of dedicated experience in indirect tax and tax accounting.

The role involves managing end-to-end multi-state Sales & Use Tax compliance, Use Tax self-assessments, tax accounting reconciliations, tax provisions, and audit-related activities. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of US indirect tax laws and hands-on experience with Oracle ERP.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual multi-state and local Sales & Use Tax returns.

• Calculate and process tax remittances and reconcile tax liability accounts.

• Manage Use Tax self-assessments by reviewing purchasing logs, AP invoices, and expense reports.

• Handle month-end close activities, including tax accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

• Maintain accurate tax sub-ledger to GL reconciliations in Oracle ERP.

• Assist with indirect tax provisions and financial statement disclosures.

• Monitor changes in US tax laws, economic nexus thresholds, and state tax regulations.

• Maintain taxability mapping and corporate tax matrices.

• Support Sales, Procurement, and Legal teams with tax-related queries.

• Support state and local Sales & Use Tax audits.

• Manage Tax Exemption Certificates and related documentation.

• Use Oracle ERP (Cloud/Fusion or EBS) and tax engines such as Vertex, Avalara, or Thomson Reuters OneSource.

• Work with IT and Financial Systems teams to troubleshoot tax calculation issues and support system testing.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 4+ years of experience in Sales & Use Tax compliance and Tax Accounting.

• Hands-on experience with Oracle ERP – AR, AP, and GL is mandatory.

• Strong knowledge of US indirect tax laws.

• Knowledge of tax accruals, provisions, reconciliations, and journal entries.

• Strong understanding of US GAAP/IFRS.

• Proficiency in MS Excel, including Pivot Tables, Lookup Formulas, and advanced data manipulation.

• Experience with indirect tax filing platforms.

• Strong analytical and investigative skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
