Assistant Vice President, Mortgage Operations – Role Summary

The Assistant Vice President, Mortgage Operations is responsible for leading end-to-end mortgage origination processes for complex loan portfolios within the Private Bank segment. The role ensures accurate execution across the full lifecycle—from application intake through closing and funding—while maintaining high service quality, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities include managing daily pipeline activities, prioritizing workloads, and resolving escalations to ensure timely loan processing. The AVP reviews complex mortgage files involving nonstandard income, assets, and collateral, while collaborating with underwriting, processing, and closing teams to streamline workflows and remove operational bottlenecks.

The role emphasizes strong leadership, with responsibility for coaching, mentoring, and developing a team of 5–10 staff, driving performance management, and enhancing team capabilities. It also involves enforcing internal controls, managing operational risks, and ensuring audit readiness through accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory standards.

Additionally, the AVP drives continuous process improvements, supports operational transformation initiatives, and provides reporting insights to senior management for decision-making.
